Bob & Rox – If I could witness this every day at dusk… I would wish I didn’t have to wait for the day to end. All these breathtaking photos of sunsets were taken from their deck over the last week.
Gringos Abroad – Bryan tells us that there is a new program from the Ecuadorian Postal Service that makes it easier to receive foreign shipments (yeah, online shopping.) Club Coerreos operates out of Miami and can receive packages under four kilos (8.8 pounds) and less than $400.
NEW BLOG ALERT – Thanks to Shelly from Hurst Traverse for turning me on to this new blog from future Xpadorians Linda and Dave Marshall from Kingston, Ontario. Our Canadian couple have taken the first step and traveled to Cuenca for an exploratory visit over the Christmas holidays. I hope to learn more about them in future posts. Please welcome Southbound to Cuenca to our SOZ universe.
Last week I added a link (see more helpful websites) to Liliya Bykova’s blog about their Life in Quito. You may recognize the name; she is an active participant on the forums and writes a monthly guest post to the Pro-Ecuador blog about Quito Culture. She and her husband Leo own a furnished two bedroom pet-friendly condo available for rent in the heart of Centro Historico, around the corner from La Ronda.
I received an email yesterday from Stephen Vargha, a journalist from Durham, NC. He and his wife Rebecca have their eye on Ecuador for future retirement. He thought that SOZ blog readers might be interested in a couple of English-speaking newspapers online: Latin American Herald Tribune and Ecuador Times. Thank you Stephen.
On that note, if you have anything that you think might be of interest to future expats in Ecuador, please email me at: mary@southofzero.com.
